Regional Championships Round Up

The team have enjoyed some fantastic results this season and at some point a bad day is enevitable and as hard as we try to avoid them sometimes it is just not meant to be. Today was one of those days.

The team split up to race in there own regional Championships around the UK and it was the first race of the season in the UK for our South African National Champion. So with Alex & Paul in the South, Ben in Wales and Chris & Rourke in the Midlands we set off with high expectations.

The day started brightly with Alex leading the Southern Junior field with only Ben Summer able to stay with our in form youngster until a slow flat slowed him down to a 3rd place finish. Not a bad start to the day but you can’t help thinking what might have been.

Whilst Paul had a good start, the legs just weren’t their and by lap two he had stomach cramps to such a degree he decided to call it a day. No sooner had he abandoned, the news came through that both Chris & Rourke had retired due to mechanical problems after leading the race together in first and second!! Ben took a steady 8th place but not in keeping with his current great form after a crash on the first lap had winded our Under 23.

The day hadn’t quite gone to plan but even on a day of misfortune there was still a podium to celebrate!
