British Mountain Bike Series Round 2 - Dalby Forest, Yorkshire
The team went into round 2 of the National Series almost at full strength and after a disappointing round 1 had a lot to prove! The event was set up as a world cup test event as they look to host a round of the series in 2010. The course had only just been finished literally days before but that didnt seem to matter as a true mountain bikers race awaited! Alex showed that he is now back to full fitness with a terrific display of determination to finish 4th after narrowly losing in a sprint for 3rd. After working his way up the technical course suited him and as a first year Youth he gave the older guys a real challenge. Ben and Nat both went into the Junior race in top form and on the back of great results. It would be an interesting test and there wasn't much between them as they finished 4th and 5th. The quality of this generation is evident as the top 5 were all first year Juniors! Brodie surprised us all by recovering from his recent injuries to compete in the Expert field. It was an amazing achievement considering only weeks before he had broken his wrist, shin and dislocated his collar bone in two nasty crashes. The goal today was to get round what was a very challenging course and this was done as he enjoyed 4 laps to finish in a creditable 24th place. Paul also made a comeback in the Elite race after missing round 1 and both himself and Chris took on a challenging field of riders. Chris was challenging for a top 20 position before a crash on lap 2 set him back. Paul set a steady pace around the 5 laps and now looks to build on this result. It was a great weekend for the team, who attracted a lot of attention in the race arena with many questions based around their fantastic Cannondale bikes on display over the weekend. Some of the team now head South for the second round of the Southern regional series and then its onto Margam Park in Wales for the next round of the National Series, hardly even time to catch their breath back!
