The final round of the thetford winter series saw a big turnout of monkeys, for
some of who this was there first race of the new season. paul started his first
race since June after recovering from a knee injury and Chris started his first
race for Orange Monkey so it was an exciting day all round for the team.
Ben took another podium in the 2 hour Junior race as he gets some valuable racing
in before the start of the NPS in April. It was another impressive display from
Ben who this year steps into the Junior ranks.
Paul was quick off the mark in the 4 hour race tagging onto the back of the leaders
early on and getting some good training in before a mechanical on lap 4 meant he
lost contact with the lead group and chased hard before eventually retiring on lap
6 happy in the knowledge that it had been a good training session. Nat had an outstanding
ride in the same race finishing 13th against a field of older riders. Like Ben,
Nat is also stepping up to Junior this year and got some good training from the
4 hour event.
The ride of the day though was from Chris, who in his first outting for the team
finished just off the podium in 4th spot. Deliberately setting off at a steady pace
he wound it up towards the end of the race finishing strongly, a great sign of things
to come from the talented 24 year old.
The team now split in two as some take on the third round of the Gorrick while Paul,
chris and Ben fly to Cyprus for the Sunshine Cup stage race.
