Midlands Round 1 - Cosford, Rugby

It was nearly a full turn out in Rugby for the first Midlands regional race of 2009. The team were pitched in the arena and with good weather and a great event put on in some stunning grounds it was sure to be a good day!

The Juniors and Youth riders were first off in a full day of racing and it was Alex who showed he is gradually coming back to form after a long lay off at the start of the year. he took a well deserved 2nd place in the Youth field and notched up some more ranking points in the process.

In the Juniors Will Verney had gone to the front of the race but had our in form Junior on his tail and as Will drifted backwards it was Nat who took advantage romping home to take a brilliant win and continuing the great form he has been in since the start of the season. Meanwhile Ben was making good progress after recovering from a cold and finished in a creditable 4th place amongst a strong field of Juniors.

Chris and Paul were last to go in the Elite field and after a good start from both riders Chris paced himself well around 7 laps of the technically challenging course to finish in a very good 6th position. Chris gains with every race as he takes his first year in Elite head on. Paul completed 2 and a half laps before retiring as he looks to try and grab back some form after a lengthy knee injury. This was a great outting from the riders and one which will not only give them some healthy ranking points but the form and experience to take them into the next National event in a few weeks time.
