The majority of the team turned out for the latest round of the Welsh Series which
also incorporated the Welsh National Championships and with jerseys and medals up
for grabs it was to be an exciting day! The weather was not so kind and gloomy skies
told us that there would be ran at some point in the day.
The morning races included the Juniors and as normal our two were there on the start
line but with ben qualifying for the Welsh series there was added impotous on the
race.
The course was short, very short in fact, meaning the Juniors had 5 laps, however
after practice it was clear that this course should not be under estimated as it
was extremely tough with hugely steep climbs and wet rooty decents. This was a tough
course!
Ben was in no mood for messing about and blew the field away from the start line,
taking the win with over a minute to spare and with it the welsh National Championship
title! nat also had a good race finishing 5th, not quite the form we have seen from
him in recents weeks but still good none the less!
In the Senior race, Brodie, Paul and Chris were set off together as it was a championship
race however the results were split down into their categories. Just as they took
to the start line the heavens opened making the race that bit harder! 8 laps announced
the commissionaire!
Chris started well wilst Paul kept things steady not wanting to do too much to early.
The course became very slippy and the descents a little more scary! Chris maintained
his steady pace throughout finishing well and taking 5th place. Paul continued his
steady pace until a crash on lap 6 set him back but finished strongly in 7th. Brodie
started well but afded as the race wore on, not used to such a long race but still
finishing 10th Expert!
This race had everything, rain, sun hills, downhills and at the end we had a new
Welsh Champion!
